Pina Colada Cupcakes

So, I was reading this great thread on cakecentral.com and found this lady that did these cupcakes...so I decided that is what I am bringing to our Pool Party for tomorrow. I would show you a picture, but dh (not dear at the moment) took my camera and I don't have a clue as to what he did with it, so...I would imagine that there are wonderful pictures of fish on it...ewwww.

Anyhow...........description:
Its like a parfait, the bottom of a plastic cup has buttercream mixed with crushed pineapple, then regular buttercream, then take a cupcake, cut it in half, put the bottom on top of the buttercream, fill it with pineapple buttercream, put on the top half and then pipe regular buttercream on top and place a cherry in the middle. I would put some of those "cheesey" umbrella things, but you cannot buy those things where I live, imagine that! So, If I ever get my camera back I will post a picture and I do have to say, they are mighty good!

Mater from Cars

Mater

I did this cake for my nephew, but I had to miss his party :(

Oh well, he likes Mater and the guys from the movie Cars, hope he enjoyed! Happy Birthday Dylon!

Today I am working on a 25th anniversary cake for my friends mom and step dad. Its a flat topsy turvy. I did the bows and have them drying, a few whimsy roses and some curly cues. They should be dry by Thursday:)

A day to relax!

I didn't have any cakes today and didn't know what to do with myself! So, I made buttercream roses today, but in a totally different way. I was inspired by this video on youtube.

(sorry, I don't know how to make it work!)

It is so much easier than using a flower nail.

I made pink, pink with a little white, then white with a little pink. These would look great cascading down the cake...I always hated doing them on a flower nail, but I believe they came out great!

Some other random cakes that Ive done

Father's Day Cakes

I'm a little far behind in posting but wanted to post some Father's Day Cakes
The first is for my husband, a turkey hunter that missed a turkey a few times, lol.

The second was for my Father in Law who loves racing:)

Ok, so when I loaded them, they loaded backward...

And the next (which will probably load way up to the top....) is a cake I did for a microcredit meeting....

And then I did some bears for my nieces cake:)

That's it.....

Graduation Cake

So, today I started work on the grad cake my son volunteered me for.....

Anyhow, I got the cap done today and I think it came out pretty cool! Its covered in fondant, and has fondant tassels on it. (those darn tassels are cut by hand...no fancy cutters for that!). I did make a scroll diploma, but I don't like it, I'll try another one. Plus I made some flower cutters in the school colors.

Making Rootbeer Cupcakes

Made a regular cake, but added rootbeer instead of water. For the glaze: 4 cups confectioners sugar, 1/3 cup plus 3 T. rootbeer, and 3 T. Canola oil. Mix together with a whisk.

Once baked, glaze the cupcakes and let set to dry. Then pipe buttercream on top! Yummy!

So, this will be my first Blog!

Lets see how this goes!
About me: I'm a married mom of 3, hair stylist and I love making cakes, cupcakes & cookies! Most recently I did this beehive cake for my soon to be 89 year old Grandmother:)

I like to be challenged when making these cakes because if I did something wrong I know what to do if I make them again. Today I will be making Rootbeer Float Cupcakes from Rootbeer made locally! mmmm.

I'll post pics of that later!
Thanks for looking at my blog, I hope I do alright:)
